David Ian Arguile was born in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, in 1957. He is married to Venita and the couple have two adult sons, Malcolm and Wayne.
David commenced his term of office at St Anne’s in January 2010, after seven years as Head of Kingswood College in Grahamstown. Prior to that he was Principal of Pinelands High School in Cape Town, and also taught at Westering High and Victoria Park High in Port Elizabeth.
He holds the following academic qualifications: Master of Education (Rhodes University, Bachelor of Education (UNISA), Higher Diploma in Education (UPE), Bachelor of Arts (UPE) and a National Higher Diploma in Business Management (Technikon SA)
David’s professional activities have included holding senior positions in ISASA and the former SA Teachers’ Association, serving as a Principals’ representative on the Independent Examinations Board and being a member of various school governing bodies.
He is a Lay Minister in the Anglican Church and has, since a teenager, been actively involved in various community programmes.
A keen sportsman, David has served on various committees, has coached cricket and hockey at a provincial level, and has run two Comrades Marathons. He currently plays as much golf as possible and regularly attends the gym in Hilton. He and Venita particularly enjoy viewing wildlife, travelling and reading.
