St Anne’s is an independent college set in Hilton, in the beautiful Midlands of KZN. St Anne’s provides an excellent, balanced and globally relevant education for young women in a caring environment from Grade 8 to Grade 12. The college is celebrating 150 years in 2027, and is very proud of its rich heritage and is excited for what the future holds. In order to enhance the development of the college and to ensure its continued growth and sustainability, we seek to fill a new role.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the dynamic role of Head of Development, commencing 1 October 2026, or by mutual agreement.
KEY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Head of Development will be responsible for co-creating a fundraising strategy which is aligned to St Anne’s vision and strategy, and which supports the college’s values. The emphasis will be on fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, and on building the scope for investment in the college’s future. The significant milestone of St Anne’s celebrating 150 years in 2027 is a meaningful catalyst to secure a sustainable pipeline of funding to support immediate priorities and future aspirations of the college.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD:
– have a university degree or relevant tertiary education
– have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role where they have grown relationships with investors and run successful campaigns with various stakeholders
– be familiar with identifying and securing suitable corporate donors
– possess a quiet and genuine self-confidence which ensures they feel at ease networking with diverse groups of people, in various contexts, and to be able to foster a conducive environment
– be very well organised and able to arrange and host community functions
– be creative and enthusiastic in communicating with investors through newsletters, donor proposals, impact reports and personal engagement
– have a flair for keeping meticulous records and for updating data bases
– have a natural warmth and style of engagement which is authentic and likable
– be intrinsically driven and have a passion for the important role and for making a significant difference in securing St Anne’s growth and development in the future
– have a clear appreciation of the values and culture of St Anne’s
– be a team player who can work both independently and within a large organisation
– be digitally very competent
– have a knowledge of, and experience with, the legal requirements of POPIA & PAIA
– be able to provide Police Clearance and other legally required clearance if offered the role
